Meet the Bakers
Hi and welcome to our app, A Piece of Cake. We're Bec and Kara - best friends since the first day of high school, now baking and building a business together from opposite sides of the world: Bec in Amsterdam, Kara in Australia.
Bec
Bec's a home baker and our recipe developer who bakes for the people she loves. Bec is known as the one who will always bring the cake, but it wasn't always like that. For a long time she had a handful of half-trusted recipes and baking for special occasions always felt like a gamble, never feeling completely confident they would work out (ask her about the Christmas Baileys Cheesecake disaster - it was not pretty!). She wanted recipes she could trust completely and over the years did a number of baking courses and baked a lot (like really a lot) and started creating her own recipies that soon made her known for her reliable and consistent cakes.
Kara
Kara is the visionary behind the app and the one who built it. She'd been working on a recipe platform for content creators until she realised what people actually wanted wasn't a platform - it was recipes they could rely on. Watching Bec bake from across the world, it clicked: build it for women like her. Capable but busy women who love baking and need reliable recipies that work every time.
That's what A Piece of Cake is all about. Not a recipe blog. Not another shortcut or hack. Just the recipes you can trust - tested until they're foolproof. The only thing left to think about is who asks for the recipe.
